I mean, it’s not like we’ve never seen a storm before, but apparently, the one that hit Toronto last week was a real doozy. So much so that it caused “severe damage” to Rogers Stadium, forcing Live Nation to cancel AC/DC’s September 16 concert. I’m shocked. SHOCKED! 😱 Who wouldn’t want to see Angus Young’s schoolboy antics and Brian Johnson’s… well, Brian Johnson’s everything? 🤷♂️
According to Kevin Mahoney, the on-site meteorologist at Rogers Stadium, the storm was a “100-year storm” with extreme winds and heavy rainfall. Wow, that sounds like a real party pooper. I’m sure the 50,000 people who were planning to attend the concert are just devastated. I mean, who needs to see AC/DC live when you can just stay home and listen to “Back in Black” on your phone? 📱
The Damage is Done 🤦♂️
Live Nation’s Wayne Zronik said that canceling the concert was not an easy decision, but safety has to come first. Yeah, because nothing says “safety” like a bunch of angry metalheads who can’t see their favorite band live. I’m sure they’ll all just go home and quietly listen to their vinyl records or something. 🎶
Apparently, the storm caused some significant damage to the stadium, and it’s not just a matter of cleaning up some debris and calling it a day. Nope, sections of the venue need to be removed and rebuilt. I guess that’s what happens when you get hit with a “microburst” of bad weather. 🌪️ Who knows, maybe they can just use some of that sweet, sweet Canadian lumber to rebuild the thing. 🛠️
Refunds and Rainchecks 🤑
If you were one of the unlucky souls who bought tickets to the canceled concert, don’t worry, you’ll get a full refund through Ticketmaster. Unless, of course, you bought resale tickets, in which case you’re on your own. 🤷♂️ I’m sure the ticket resale market will be flooded with people trying to unload their tickets for the next AC/DC concert. 🎟️
And if you’re wondering what’s next for Rogers Stadium, don’t worry, they’re on top of it. They’re working with the City of Toronto to get the stadium ready for next season. Because, you know, safety is paramount and all that jazz. 🎺 I’m sure they’ll have it all fixed up in no time, just in time for the next big concert or sporting event. 📆
In the meantime, AC/DC will just have to console themselves with the rest of their “PWR/UP” tour dates. I mean, it’s not like they’re getting any younger or anything. 🙄 They’ll be playing Montreal’s Parc Jean-Drapeau on September 12 and Winnipeg’s Princess Audio Stadium on September 20. So, if you’re in the area, you can still get your AC/DC fix. 🎸
And that’s a wrap, folks. The sky is not falling, but the concert is canceled. 🌫️ Maybe next time, Toronto will be ready for some good old-fashioned rock ‘n’ roll. 🤘 Until then, we’ll just have to keep on rockin’ in our living rooms. 🎸🤘
