Oh boy, are you guys ready for the most epic announcement ever? 🎉 MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service, and production company, is super duper excited to announce the release date of Andrew Haigh’s highly anticipated new feature film, A Long Winter 🎥, alongside its official teaser artwork 🎨. So, following its world premiere at the 2026 Telluride Film Festival 🎬, the film has been selected for the 70th BFI London Film Festival 🎉, where it will receive its UK premiere on 14 October 📆. In 1951, high in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, Mike’s world is thrown into uncertainty when his mother vanishes into the wilderness 🌄. Oh no, what a cliffhanger! 🤯 Alongside his complicated father, and with their small mountain community rallying together against the unforgiving winter, Mike embarks on a search that leads him toward an unexpected journey of self-discovery, belonging, and the quiet strength required to carry on 💪. A Long Winter was shot on location in Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦, with a creative team including cinematographer André Turpin, production designer Emmanuel Fréchette, and editor Jonathan Alberts 🎥. Because, you know, the location and crew are way more interesting than the actual film 🙄. Andrew Haigh most recently directed the critically acclaimed All of Us Strangers, which received six BAFTA Award nominations 🏆, including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay 📝. Wow, what an overachiever 🤓. The film won Best Picture and six other awards out of fourteen British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) nominations 🏆, including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Haigh, and Best Supporting Actor for Paul Mescal 🎉.
