Xiaomi’s Mix Flip 2: Finally, a Foldable That Won’t Break the Bank (Unless You Buy All the Accessories)

Xiaomi's Mix Flip 2: Finally, a Foldable That Won't Break the Bank (Unless You Buy All the Accessories)

Oh, honey, Xiaomi’s at it again. Just when you thought they couldn’t possibly cram more useless gadgets into our lives, they drop the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Pocket Photo Kit. Yes, you heard right, a FREAKING PRINTER that attaches to your phone. Because who needs a real camera when you can have this monstrosity? 🙄

So, apparently, at the Xiaomi October Launch Event (where dreams go to die, probably), they unveiled a bunch of phones, including the Xiaomi 15 Pro. But let’s be real, who cares about phones when there’s a POCKET PHOTO PRINTER?! They did tease the Xiaomi Watch S4, which, I guess, is cool if you’re into that whole “connected” lifestyle. Me? I’m just trying to disconnect from this chaotic world, one useless gadget at a time. 🧘‍♀️

But wait, there’s more! This glorious Pocket Photo Kit attaches via USB Type-C (because who even uses regular USB anymore?) and spits out peel-off photos, just like a Polaroid. Because, you know, lugging around a bulky Polaroid camera is just TOO convenient. The Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 is supposedly their answer to the Motorola Razr Ultra 2025, but let’s be honest, it’s probably just another foldable phone that’ll break in a week. Oh, and it uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform, the same CPU in the Xiaomi 15 Pro. Because apparently, we need that much power to print blurry, low-quality photos. 🤦‍♀️

Apparently, peel-apart photos are all the rage with the youth these days. Global Times says it’s “a new favourite in the photography scene.” Because, you know, kids these days are all about that “authenticity.” Never mind that they’re slathering filters on everything and Facetuning their faces into oblivion. This is why Xiaomi decided to release this Pocket Photo Kit, of course! According to Global Times, “a single piece of the peel-apart film costs nearly 400 yuan ($55).” So, basically, you’re paying more for the film than the actual photo. Genius! 💰

Xiaomi’s version of this printable peel-apart photo attachment will produce pocket-sized moments at the low price of 2 yuan (approximately 30 cents) per print. What a steal! According to Weibo, Notebookcheck reports that “it works using ZINK sublimation technology rather than ink and has upgraded to provide Leica watermarks” for the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2. Because nothing says “authenticity” like slapping a fake Leica watermark on your blurry phone photos. 📸

So, while the price of Polaroid film is going through the roof because hipsters and influencers are obsessed with it, the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Pocket Photo Kit can be yours for the low, low price of 699 yuan (roughly US$98). Run, don’t walk, to throw your money away on this utterly pointless gadget! 🎉
