Trump's Old Pal Wants Him To Go Full Dictator Mode Now

Folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. Peter Ticktin, a lawyer and self-proclaimed “best friend” of Donald Trump’s from their boarding school days, is at it again. Ticktin claims that multiple countries interfered in the 2020 election to steal it from Trump, and that his client, Tina Peters, was the victim of Democratic election officials concealing their own supposed crimes. He’s also warning of a plot by Democrats to steal the upcoming midterm elections. Bless their hearts, it sounds like Ticktin has been drinking too much of that Trump Kool-Aid.

Ticktin, 80, has become a prominent 2020 election denier, frequently pushing unproven conspiracies and representing leading figures in the movement. He’s represented Trump in civil litigation and joined Peters in the Oval Office last week for a meeting with Trump following her release from prison. However, a White House official downplayed their relationship, saying that Ticktin doesn’t speak with the president regularly and does not influence the White House’s policies toward elections and voting.

You can’t make this stuff up, folks. Ticktin is also pushing for an executive order to declare a national emergency based on alleged foreign interference in the 2020 election, which would allow Trump to seize control of the upcoming midterms. State election officials and election law experts say this would plunge the country into a constitutional crisis, as the US Constitution clearly gives power over elections to the states and Congress, not the president.

Somewhere in Atlanta, a producer thought this sounded terrifying, because CNN is reporting that Ticktin’s claims of foreign election interference are focused on voting machines, particularly those manufactured by Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic. However, a March 2021 report from the Justice Department and Department of Homeland Security debunked these allegations, saying that a multi-agency investigation found no evidence of foreign hacking.

Despite the lack of evidence, Ticktin continues to push his conspiracy theories, claiming that evidence proving his claims will become public soon. He’s also representing other prominent election deniers, including Patrick Byrne, the former Overstock CEO, and Joe Oltman, a podcaster from Colorado. These cases have been thrown into chaos thanks to Ticktin’s antics, including a physical altercation before a deposition and emails that show him insulting opposing counsel.

In addition to his work with election deniers, Ticktin has also joined forces with Missouri attorney Mark McCloskey to push for compensation for those charged and pardoned by Trump for their role in the January 6 riot at the US Capitol. However, their partnership ended in acrimony, with McCloskey stepping away from the effort due to a medical diagnosis and Ticktin filing a lawsuit against the federal government representing a dozen January 6 defendants alleging prosecutorial misconduct.

In conclusion, folks, it’s clear that Peter Ticktin is a force to be reckoned with in the world of election denial. With his colorful clientele and unorthodox behavior, he’s making waves in the legal community and beyond. But let’s be real, his conspiracy theories are getting more and more outlandish by the day. I mean, who needs evidence when you’ve got a good story to tell, right? 🙄
