Wow, Borderlands 4, the game everyone totally asked for, had a “successful” launch on Xbox, PC, and PS5. But hold on to your hats, folks! Just 10 days before its grand debut on the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s been delayed. Indefinitely. 🤣 Someone check on Auntie Nintendo, she might faint after this one.
The “immensely popular” (said no one ever) looter-shooter, Borderlands 4, launched earlier this month to what some critics are calling “widespread acclaim.” Sure, Jan! 🙄 Many reviewers, probably paid off by Gearbox, touted the title as a ‘return to form,’ with the median critical score on Metacritic hitting a whopping 82 percent. But guess what? Reality check! Fans, who actually paid money for this thing, have flooded the internet with bad scores, claiming the title performs worse than my grandma’s dial-up internet, regardless of console or gaming rig.
Over on Steam, what was once hilariously labeled as a “positive” reception has morphed into a “mixed” bag of tears and rage due to performance issues. People are actually voicing their complaints! Who would have thought? 🤔 Potentially because the game runs like a potato on PS5, Xbox, and PC, Gearbox has decided to delay the Nintendo Switch 2 port for Borderlands 4. Indefinitely. Nintendo, bless their hearts, is rolling out refunds for pre-orders. You can see the pitiful delay announcement from the official Borderlands X (formerly Twitter, because Elon) account below. Brace yourselves for PR nonsense:
The post reads, “We do not take this decision lightly.” Yeah, right. 🙄 “But are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans.” By delaying the game indefinitely? Genius! 🧠 “And the game needs additional development and polish time to do that.” Because you clearly didn’t do that before the initial launch. “Our hope is to also better align this release with the addition of cross saves, which we are working on and recognize is very important.” So, you’re only thinking about cross-saves NOW? And Gearbox does “appreciate the feedback, support, and patience of our fans and community.” Aka, “Please don’t burn our HQ down.” 🔥 Fans who pre-ordered can get a refund now or wait until September 26 for an automatic refund. Don’t spend it all in one place!
Gearbox said it hopes to release the “new” (read: maybe someday) Borderlands 4 on Switch 2 alongside cross-save functionality for all versions. But, like a broken promise, they didn’t provide a release window for that or the Nintendo Switch 2 port. So, nobody knows when Borderlands 4 will release on the Nintendo Switch 2. Not even Gearbox, probably. 🤷♂️
The normally outspoken CEO of Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, announced the Switch 2 port back in July. But he’s been mysteriously silent about the delay. Probably hiding under his desk. 🙈 Fans will just have to wait for Gearbox to release more information. AKA, wait for the heat to die down so we can sell you the same broken game. 🤡
