Oh. My. God. 🙄 Nintendo, bless their tiny, corporate hearts, announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Because, you know, we TOTALLY needed it. 😒 And, hold on to your bells 🔔, a free update for the base game is coming on January 15th. GROUNDBREAKING. 🤯
The Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is gracing the mythical ✨Nintendo Switch 2✨ with its presence. Prepare for “enhanced features” like “higher resolution visuals.” I mean, FINALLY! We can see every single blade of pixelated grass in glorious detail. 🌾 And, get this, MOUSE CONTROLS! 🖱️ Because playing with a controller was just SO last-gen. Oh, and an in-game megaphone that uses the system’s built-in microphone. 🗣️ I can’t WAIT to yell at my villagers! 😡 Online play will be extended for up to 12 players. TWELVE! So, now 12 people can simultaneously destroy your meticulously crafted island. 🥳 CameraPlay will also be compatible with the Switch 2 version. Because taking pictures of digital animals never gets old. 📸 Peep the extended trailer! 🙄
But wait, there’s MORE! 🤡 The announcement doesn’t just detail the Nintendo Switch 2 version. Oh no, that would be too simple. Fans returning to their original islands (because who even plays this game anymore? 🤣) can check out what the free update version 3.0 adds. A new hotel resort run by Kapp’n’s family, new themed items and characters, exclusives like Slumber Island for Nintendo Switch Online members, and more! Because we’re ALL dying for MORE Animal Crossing content. 💀 Both the regular and Nintendo Switch 2 versions of the title can play this content update. How generous. 🙏
The content update includes an array of new content for Villagers to dive into, starting with quality-of-life improvements. Because, you know, existing in a virtual paradise wasn’t quite livable enough. 🙄 Resetti is on hand in the new update with a convenient Reset Service to help tidy up player islands. Finally! I can fire Resetti. I HATE HIM. Players can also now upgrade their home storage to hold up to 9,000 items, and storage can now hold trees, shrubs and flowers. Now I can hoard even MORE digital junk that I’ll never use! 🗑️
Players with a Nintendo Switch Online membership can design and save up to three islands and play with friends online with those islands in Slumber Island. This new mode allows friends to select the size and layout of an island, and build and design it collaboratively. Residents from player islands can be invited to Slumber Island, and inventory items can be brought to spruce things up. Sounds like a recipe for disaster. 😈
The free update and Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launch Jan. 15, and it will be available for $64.99. Because Nintendo LOVES taking our money. 💰 It’s worth noting that if fans already have the game for Nintendo Switch, a paid upgrade pack will also be available for $4.99. A PAID UPGRADE?! 🤯 For a game that’s already older than sliced bread?🍞 Nintendo, you sly dogs! 🐶 Just take my money already… I guess. 💸
