Alright, buckle up, buttercups, because Lucca Comics & Games 2025 just wrapped up, and let me tell you, it was even more chaotic than your average anime convention filled with questionable waifu pillows. I mean, who needs therapy when you can just spend a week surrounded by sweaty cosplayers and overpriced figurines? 🤷♂️
Seriously though, Lucca, Italy thinks it’s the “capital of comics and community”? More like the capital of crowds and questionable fashion choices. 🙄 Lucca Comics & Games wrapped up last week, boasting 900 guests, 730 exhibitors, and 30,000 “official” cosplayers. I’m using air quotes because let’s be real, half of them probably glued cardboard to themselves five minutes before entering. They even had an app with 90,000 active users! Because nothing says “immersive experience” like staring at your phone the whole time.📱 And get this, they’re already planning the 60th-anniversary celebration for 2026! Can’t wait for another year of sensory overload and wallet-draining temptations. 💸
This year’s theme was “French Kiss,” because apparently, we haven’t run out of ways to sexualize pop culture. They even had some fancy French artist, Rébecca Dautremer, turn a whole palazzo into her studio. I’m sure the locals just loved having their city invaded by nerds pretending to appreciate art. 🎨 It’s all about “freedom of expression,” which apparently means wearing a Pikachu onesie in public. 🤔
And because no comic convention is complete without weebs, Tetsuo Hara-sensei graced us with his presence. You know, the guy who created Fist of the North Star (Hakuto no Ken). If you don’t know what that is, congratulations on having a life. 🎉 Apparently, he’s a big deal, so everyone was “ecstatic.” I was ecstatic when I found a parking spot. That’s way more impressive.🚗
Apparently, Hara-sensei brought his work all the way from Japan, because nothing screams “cultural exchange” like shipping a bunch of drawings across the world. ✈️ And he even got an award! Now his self-portrait will be in the Uffizi Gallery. Because that’s exactly what the Uffizi was missing: a mangaka. 🖼️
Dungeons & Dragons was represented by Matthew Mercer and Marisha Ray from Critical Role. I’m sure the live games were just as immersive as watching someone else play video games. 🙄 And because fantasy literature is apparently still a thing, Rick Riordan, Cassandra Clare, Holly Black, and Glenn Cooper were there too. I bet they had some riveting discussions about dragons and elves. 🐉
But the real headliners were Hideo Kojima and the Duffer Brothers, along with the cast of Stranger Things! 🎉 Kojima apparently wants to “connect the world” with Death Stranding 2. Because nothing says “connection” like wandering around a virtual wasteland delivering packages. 📦 And the Stranger Things cast members were there to reminisce about the show. I’m sure they’re all super humble and not at all tired of being asked about it. 🎬
So, yeah, Lucca Comics & Games 2025 happened!

Born in the small town of Respawn, Pennsylvania, Pixel grew up mashing buttons on an ancient NES controller, firmly believing that “blowing into the cartridge” was a sacred ritual passed down through generations.
