Nintendo’s Movie Rampage: Prepare for a Never-Ending Stream of Pixelated Blockbusters

SUPER MARIO RETURNS

Well, well, well, look who’s decided to grace the silver screen again! 🙄 Nintendo, bless their hearts, is apparently doubling down on turning our beloved video games into… *movies*. Because, you know, the last time they tried this, it totally didn’t result in a cinematic masterpiece that everyone still quotes to this day. Oh wait… 🤣

In a mind-numbingly dull presentation about financial garbage no one cares about, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa (who? 🤔) announced they’re “building a framework” for churning out these… things… at a “consistent release cadence.” Translation: prepare for a never-ending barrage of adaptations, whether you like it or not! 🤪 This, of course, is all thanks to the “staggering success” of *The Super Mario Bros. Movie*. Oh yes, that cinematic triumph that totally wasn’t carried by nostalgia and Chris Pratt’s… *unique* voice acting. 🙄 Their main goal? Not making good movies, but “to create smiles through entertainment.” Which, judging by their track record, probably means “to make you cringe so hard you forget your sorrows.” 😂 Apparently, contributing to “the growth of in-house IPs” (whatever that means) and “bringing families together” is more important than, you know, actual quality. Makes sense. Who needs good movies when you can have… this? 🤷‍♂️ The next victim, er, I mean, *scheduled launch*, is *The Super Mario Galaxy Movie*. Check out the “teaser” below. Prepare to be whelmed. 😴

Furukawa also mentioned Nintendo Pictures (responsible for the critically acclaimed… *Pikmin* animated short? 🤨) and Nintendo Stars, a company dedicated to finding “new ways to enjoy our characters through various licensing and secondary use initiatives.” Translation: prepare for a flood of cheap merchandise and soulless adaptations. 💸 But hey, at least Shigeru Miyamoto is co-producing these cinematic masterpieces! That totally guarantees quality, right? …Right? 😬 He’s “keeping the film production closer to home than when *The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!* launched in 1989.” Oh thank heavens! At least the production team learned from that fever dream.

Next up is *The Legend of Zelda* movie adaptation, slated for 2027. Because apparently, two Mario movies weren’t enough to satiate their thirst for cinematic domination. 🙄 After that? Two question marks. Because they clearly haven’t learned their lesson and are already planning more of these things. 🤦‍♂️ The ellipsis at the end? That’s just Nintendo’s way of saying, “We’re not stopping until we’ve milked every last drop of nostalgia from your childhood!” 🐄 So buckle up, folks. The Nintendo movie era is here to stay. And it’s probably going to be… something. 🤷‍♀️
