Assassin's Creed Shadows and Attack on Titan Had a Baby and It's a Free Quest, OMG

Oh, honey, hold my sake! 🍶 Ubisoft, bless their little corporate hearts, is at it again, unleashing what they’re calling one of the “boldest crossovers yet.” Get ready for Assassin’s Creed Shadows meets Attack on Titan in a limited-time event that’s either going to be epic or a train wreck of historical inaccuracies and questionable anime tropes. Let’s dive in, shall we? 🤣

Mark your calendars, kiddos, because on Nov. 25, the supposedly “historically precise” feudal Japan will be violated by the dark fantasy of Attack on Titan. This four-week extravaganza begins with Naoe and Yasuke stumbling upon a quest near Yamashiro – because apparently, Yamashiro wasn’t boring enough already. Guided by a “mysterious” woman named Ada (because every anime crossover needs a waifu, right?), our heroes must rescue her friend from a cult in the Crystal Cave. Sounds legit. Cults, crystals, forbidden rituals… what could possibly go wrong? 🤷‍♀️

Once inside the Crystal Cave, players will find something “more unsettling” than the historical tourism they signed up for. Brace yourselves for monstrous transformations, because nothing says historical accuracy like giant, naked titans crashing the party! 🥳 Our dynamic duo must rely on “instinct” rather than bladework – because button-mashing is totally a valid combat strategy against a 50-foot tall monstrosity. Ubisoft promises a “layer of horror” that’s distinct from the usual political backstabbing. Oh, joy! 🙄

But wait, there’s more! 🎉 Survive the Titan onslaught, and you’ll be showered with rewards! A new katana and some shiny loot await you in chests, but the real prize is the Attack on Titan-themed gear in the in-game store. Because nothing screams immersion like dressing Yasuke in Titan-inspired armor or slapping Naoe into Mikasa’s outfit. And don’t forget the Survey Corps mount to gallop across feudal Japan! Because that’s totally not going to break anyone’s immersion. 🐴

If the Titan crossover is too grim for your delicate sensibilities, fear not! Ubisoft throws in a “lighter, more humorous” questline called “A Puzzlement.” Apparently, Naoe will attempt Yasuke’s war kick, and the samurai will dabble in non-lethal stealth. Because, you know, ninjas were never lethal before! 😂 There’s also an environmental puzzle, because who doesn’t love a good brain-teaser while trying to save the world from giant, naked cannibals? This will answer “lingering lore questions” – whatever that means. Maybe it explains why Templars are so obsessed with apples? 🍎

Developed by Ubisoft Quebec and powered by the *amazing* Anvil engine (which definitely doesn’t have any bugs, nope, not at all! 🐞), Assassin’s Creed Shadows is expanding its immersive world. For all two of you still rocking a Nintendo Switch, you’ll have to wait until Dec. 2 to get your hands on this beautiful disaster. 🐢

So, there you have it. Ubisoft is “experimenting” with the unexpected by mashing together historical fiction with a dark fantasy anime. It’s a “bold, fun twist” that will either rejuvenate the franchise or send it spiraling into the abyss. But hey, at least it’s something to do before the event ends on Dec. 22. Happy Titan hunting, my dudes! ✌️
