Oh, look, another cash grab! 💰 Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, the game nobody asked for, is gracing us with a Yhwach DLC on December 10th. Prepare to empty your wallets, because that’s all this is about, right? 😉
A new DLC release date has been announced for Bleach: Rebirth of Souls. Who even remembers this game? Is it even still alive?💀 Players will be able to start playing as the latest DLC character and series major Quincy… overlord? Yhwach, as early as December 3rd, if they’re suckers for Season Passes.💸 The rest of us, the peasants, can wait until December 10th to throw our money away. A new trailer spotlights the character and some of his moveset in the latest anime fighting game, with the DLC supposedly called “The Blood Warfare.” How original! 🙄 Yhwach will be the fourth and final fighter added to the game. Because who needs a balanced roster, right?
You can start using Yhwach if you buy the $24.99 pass, or wait until the 10th to grab him for $7.99. Is that all? I thought they will ask for our souls! Maybe in the next DLC. He builds upon the additional Bleach: Rebirth of Souls characters being based on integral characters who play important parts in The Thousand Year Blood War anime. In it, he’s the head of the Wandenreich and the final major antagonist. So, basically, the bad guy. 😈 The introductory trailer refers to him as “The Almighty.” More like “The Almighty Dollar” for the developers. 🤑 It also highlights his look and costume, showing him wielding his Reishi Sword when he attacks. We can see him using Sankt Bogen and Heilig Pfeil. Whatever those are. I’m sure the hardcore fans will be thrilled… to spend more money. 😒

“In Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, players can engage in thrilling action-packed battles with iconic characters from the legendary anime franchise, including Ichigo Kurosaki, Rukia Kuchiki, Uryu Ishida, and Yasutora Sado (Chad). Players can use each character’s moves, or Zanpakuto action, to knock down their opponent’s reishi in a 1 v 1 action battle, reducing their konpaku, or overall health bar. After damaging their opponent, players can unleash key combos to destroy multiple konpaku and turn the tide of battle. Accumulate Fighting Spirit while attacking to enter an awakened state and unleash a special move.” Sounds repetitive, doesn’t it?🤔
CGMagazine’s Chris de Hoog reviewed Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, with a 7/10 score. He applauded its ability to deliver “a proper fighting game that retells the story from the beginning of the series to the end of the Arrancar/Fake Karakura Town arcs—from Ichigo Kurosaki becoming a Substitute Soul Reaper, to his climactic battle with the dastardly architect of all Soul Society’s woes.” The overall consensus was that this game somewhat captured the series highs as best it could, so this new Yhwach DLC could be a great addition to reignite some sparks for the game player count again. Or, you know, just squeeze a few more bucks out of the fans. 🤷
As of writing, Bleach: Rebirth of Souls has an average Metacritic score of 71 and an OpenCritic score of 72. So, mediocre. Just like every other anime game out there. Much like other anime fighting games for franchises like the Demon Slayer and Dragon Ball games, these games rely a lot on the nostalgia of the anime series counterpart. The fighting aspect is just for the schoolyard clout when you can proudly say you can clap your friends as Yoruichi Shihoin. Because that’s what really matters, right? Bragging rights. 🤡 It also provides those who love the anime series with a sense of how the characters’ attacks would play out in live game combat. For a price, of course. 😈
Bleach: Rebirth of Souls launched on March 21st, 2025, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam (PC). So, basically, every platform where they can milk the fanbase. 🐄 Don’t say I didn’t warn you. 😜
