I just spilled my beer all over my Iron Maiden t-shirt because I’m so shocked… just kidding, I’m not that surprised. The BULLETBOYS, those legendary glam metal rockers, have reunited… again. I mean, who’s counting, right? It’s not like they’ve broken up and reunited more times than I’ve had hot meals. 🍴
So, the original lineup, featuring Marq Torien, Lonnie Vencent, Jimmy D’Anda, and Mick Sweda, got back together and played a few shows, including one on June 27 at the Goldfield Trading Post in Roseville, California. Because, you know, the world was just missing that special something – their unique blend of hard rock and blues fusion. 🤟
The Reunion: A Miracle or a Recipe for Disaster? 🤔
In a recent interview with The Heavy Metal Kitchen, Mick Sweda talked about the reunion, saying, “We picked up right where we left off. It’s the kind of thing where we don’t see each other for — oh, I don’t know — a decade, five years, three years, whatever it is, and we get in a room together and it just all seems to coalesce and we’re pretty much right back at square one with the humor and the antics and the fun.” Yeah, because nothing says “fun” like a bunch of middle-aged dudes trying to relive their glory days. 🎸
Sweda also discussed the songwriting process, saying, “Everybody is an entity unto himself, so it’s very easy for us to get in a room and find something to begin with. Sometimes it’s a riff that I have, sometimes it’s something Marq’s got.” Wow, I bet their songwriting sessions are just a blast… said no one ever. 🎶
A Look Back at the BULLETBOYS’ Glorious Past 🎉
The BULLETBOYS formed in 1988, during the peak of the Los Angeles glam metal movement. They quickly gained attention with their self-titled debut, which peaked at number 34 on the Billboard 200. The album spawned two hit singles, “For The Love Of Money” and “Smooth Up in Ya”, both of which charted on the Mainstream Rock chart and saw regular airplay on MTV. Because, you know, the ’80s were all about big hair, big guitars, and even bigger egos. 💁♂️
The band went on to release two more albums, “Freakshow” and “Za-Za”, before splitting up. But, as we all know, you can’t keep a good thing down, and the BULLETBOYS have been reunited and re-reunited more times than I’ve had to re-watch the same old metal music documentaries. 📺
So, are you excited about the BULLETBOYS’ reunion? 🤔 I mean, who isn’t, right? It’s not like we have better things to do, like watching paint dry or waiting for the next big thing in metal music. 🤣
In all seriousness, though, it’s great to see the BULLETBOYS back together, doing what they do best – rocking out and having a good time. And who knows, maybe they’ll even release some new music that’ll make us all nostalgic for the good old days of glam metal. 🎸
But until then, let’s just enjoy the ride and the music, shall we? 🤟 And if you’re feeling extra enthusiastic, you can always bust out your old BULLETBOYS albums and have a party… or not. 🎉 Either way, it’s gonna be a wild ride. 🎢
