I mean, who wouldn’t want to listen to a band that’s been around since the Clinton administration? ALIEN ANT FARM, the multi-platinum rock band that brought you the iconic (and by iconic, I mean mildly memorable) cover of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”, has just released a new single and music video, “Gaslighter”, via Judge & Jury Records. Because, you know, the world was just missing that special something that only ALIEN ANT FARM can provide.
The song, which will appear on their upcoming album, is all about calling out liars and manipulators, because, you know, that’s never been done before in music. According to vocalist Dryden Mitchell, “With hints of AUDIOSLAVE and RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, we wrote a razor-edged gem that calls out the liars and manipulators in our lives.” Wow, what a unique concept. I bet nobody has ever written a song about that before.
The Song’s Message: Because You Clearly Need to Be Told What to Think
Mitchell explains that the song started out as a play on words about Native American service members who used their traditional tribal languages to send secret messages during World War I and World War II. But then, Howard (whoever that is) liked the title “Gaslighter” better, so they went with that. Because, you know, the title is the most important part of a song. The lyrics were then honed to “cut to the quick” and reach as many people as possible, because, apparently, everyone has dealt with a gaslighter at some point. Yeah, no kidding.
The song will also be featured in the new rhythm-action game “Stage Tour” from RedOctane Games, because what’s a music game without a few obligatory rock songs? The game is scheduled for release on December 10, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, and will include 90+ licensed songs, 180+ authentic Gibson, Epiphone, and Kramer guitars to unlock, and 50+ selectable bandmates. Because, you know, that’s exactly what the world needs: another music game with a bunch of songs you’ll play for 5 minutes before getting bored.
ALIEN ANT FARM: Still a Band, Still Touring, Still Existing
The single arrives as ALIEN ANT FARM continues their return to the road, with tour dates including an appearance at the Sick New World festival in Ft. Worth, Texas on October 24. Because, you know, the world is just missing that special something that only ALIEN ANT FARM’s live show can provide. The band is comprised of Dryden Mitchell (vocals), Terry Corso (guitar), Mike Cosgrove (drums), and Tim Peugh (bass), and they’re still pushing forward creatively while embracing their legacy. Yeah, because that’s exactly what the world needs: more of the same old thing.
ALIEN ANT FARM has been around since 1996 and has released six studio albums, including “TruANT”, “Up In The Attic”, “Always And Forever”, and most recently “mAntras”. They’re known for their genre-defying approach to alternative rock and blending elements of metal, punk, prog, and pop. Yeah, because that’s not a recipe for disaster. They’ve built a reputation for experimentation, evolution, and explosive live shows that have taken them around the world. Wow, what a unique and not-at-all-overused description.
In conclusion, ALIEN ANT FARM is back with a new single and music video, and they’re still a thing. Congratulations to them, I guess. If you’re feeling nostalgic for the early 2000s or just want to hear some music that’s been done before, then “Gaslighter” is the song for you. 🎉
