Xbox Games Showcase and Gears of War E-Day Direct Announced Because You Clearly Didn't Have Enough Excuses to Avoid Doing Chores in June

The Xbox Games Showcase is back, and it’s going to be a wild ride, folks 🎉👀. This year, it’s coinciding with Summer Game Fest, because who doesn’t love a good party 🎊? And, to make things even more exciting, we’re getting an exclusive look at Gears of War E-Day, because prequels are always a great idea 🙄. I mean, who needs a sequel when you can just go back in time and redo everything, right 🤣?

The new EVP and CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Asha Sharma, announced on Twitter that the showcase will take place on Sunday, June 7, at 10 am PT. Because, you know, Sundays are the best day to sleep in, and what better way to wake up than with a bunch of gamers screaming at their screens 📺💻? Immediately following the show will be the Gears of War E-Day Direct, which will take a deep dive into the new prequel. I’m sure it’ll be a thrilling ride, full of explosions, shootouts, and… more explosions 🎮🔫.

According to Xbox Wire, the showcase will include first gameplay looks and huge news on upcoming titles from their first-party studios and third-party partners. Because, you know, we all love a good surprise, and what’s more surprising than a bunch of new games that we’ll probably forget about in a month 🤷‍♂️? The Gears of War: E-Day Direct will take players into the start of Emergence Day, offering new details, gameplay, and insights about the hugely anticipated origin story to the Gears of War saga. I’m sure it’ll be a real nail-biter, full of twists and turns that we won’t see coming 🤯.

On top of all this excitement, Xbox has announced that it’s bringing back Xbox FanFest at Showcase, giving fans the chance to watch the presentation in a live audience. Because, you know, there’s nothing better than being surrounded by a bunch of sweaty gamers, all cheering and chanting for their favorite games 🎉👏. You can find out more about FanFest at the official website and enter to win free tickets. I’m sure it’ll be a real blast, full of giveaways, contests, and… more giveaways 🎁.

Apart from the showcase, a new report from Windows Central says that Sharma’s first act as the new head of Xbox was to shut down the maligned “This is an Xbox” marketing campaign. Because, you know, it didn’t feel like Xbox 🙅‍♂️. In a statement provided to Windows Central, Xbox states that Sharma is personally leading a reset of how they show up as a brand. I’m sure it’ll be a real game-changer, full of new and exciting ways to market their games 📈.

When Sharma started, she stated that there were three core commitments the company had to take to ensure future success: great games, the “return of Xbox,” and the “future of play.” I’m sure it’ll be a real challenge, but I have no doubt that they’ll succeed 🏆. After all, who needs a solid business plan when you have a bunch of gamers screaming at their screens 📺💻? 🤣

The showcase will also feature some already announced first-party games, including Fable, Blade, and Clockwork Revolution. I’m sure they’ll be great, full of innovative gameplay mechanics and… more explosions 🎮🔫. And, who knows, maybe we’ll even get some new announcements, like a sequel to Halo or a new Forza game 🤔.

All in all, the Xbox Games Showcase is shaping up to be a real event, full of excitement, surprises, and… more excitement 🎉👀. So, be sure to tune in on Sunday, June 7, at 10 am PT, and get ready for a wild ride, folks 🎊👏. And, who knows, maybe we’ll even get some free giveaways, like a new Xbox console or a year’s supply of games 🎁. 😜👍
