Blanche Deems One-Sided Reporting A Threat To National Security Apparently

I’m sipping my coffee and reading about the latest drama between the Trump administration and the media, and folks, I almost spilled my coffee reading this one. Attorney General Todd Blanche is saying that media outlets reporting “one-sided” news is a national security issue severe enough to justify banning the press from the White House and Air Force One. I mean, come on, that’s quite a stretch. According to Blanche, “By the way, that is what is a national security problem. When you have completely misinformation, complete misinformation coming out of the White House, that affects our relationship with our foreign partners. That affects our relationship with our foreign enemies.”

Now, I’m not sure what’s more surprising, the fact that Blanche is making this claim or that he’s not providing any evidence to back it up. I guess that’s just the way the cookie crumbles in Washington these days. The administration’s concern is that the reporting is “one-sided,” but it seems like they’re the ones being a bit biased here.

In a court filing, the government claimed that President Trump’s effort to ban CNN, MSNOW, and Politico from the White House is justified due to national security concerns. However, Judge Timothy Kelly isn’t buying it, and he’s ordered the administration to temporarily restore the credentials of the affected journalists. Kelly said the revocation was done without “constitutionally adequate due process” and that the government’s arguments “offer little to back up their asserted national security interest.”

It’s interesting to note that the government cited reports from the outlets that referred to information provided by “senior White House officials” as a national security concern. But, as CNN’s Kaitlan Collins pointed out, one of the reports in question was based on a Pentagon Inspector General’s report. So, it seems like the administration is trying to have it both ways – they want to control the narrative, but they also want to claim that the media is being unfair.

The White House also barred CNN from flying on Air Force One on Saturday, which is just another example of the administration’s attempts to limit the media’s access. And, of course, Fox News was allowed to handle the pool duties for the president’s trip to Chicago, because that’s not biased at all.

In an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, UN Ambassador Mike Waltz echoed Blanche’s sentiments, saying that “media bias across the board” needs to be fixed. He claimed that there’s a “negative agenda” and a “negative narrative” in the media, and that anonymous sources are a problem. But, it seems like the administration is just trying to deflect attention from their own issues.

In conclusion, the Trump administration’s attempts to ban the press from the White House and Air Force One are just another example of their ongoing feud with the media. It’s a bit rich for them to claim that the media is being “one-sided” when they’re the ones trying to control the narrative. As I finish my coffee, I’m left thinking that this whole situation is just a big mess, and I’m not sure how it’s all going to play out. But one thing’s for sure – it’s going to be an interesting ride.
