Oh boy, are you ready for some exciting news? 🤩 I can barely contain my enthusiasm… Metallica’s “ReLoad” album has been re-released and it’s topping the charts! 📈 I mean, who wouldn’t want to relive the magic of 1997 all over again? 😴 The album has landed on several Billboard charts, because apparently, people still care about Metallica’s seventh studio album. I’m shocked, SHOCKED! 😱
The re-release of “ReLoad” has debuted at number one on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, because of course it did. It’s also sitting pretty at number three on the Top Rock Albums chart and number four on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart. I’m sure this has nothing to do with the fact that Metallica has a huge fan base that will buy anything with their name on it. 🙄 The album has also re-entered the Billboard 200 chart at number 16, because who needs new music when you can just re-release old stuff? 🤷♂️
The “ReLoad” Remastered Deluxe Box Set: Because You Clearly Don’t Have Enough Metallica Merch
The remastered limited-edition deluxe box set is a “passionately and thoroughly curated document” of the 1997-1998 era Metallica, featuring previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, live performances, and more. Because what every fan needs is a 15-CD set of Metallica’s unreleased stuff. I mean, who doesn’t want to listen to hours of James Hetfield’s demos and rough mixes? 🤯 The set also includes four DVDs, because you clearly don’t have enough Metallica footage in your life. And, of course, it comes with a bunch of memorabilia, including a pack of 13 Rorschach Test cards, an 11×17 Gimme Fuel poster, and a sticker. Because, you know, that’s exactly what you need to complete your Metallica collection. 🎁
But wait, there’s more! The release of “ReLoad (Remastered)” also marked the opening of the #GetTheReLoadOut fan cover competition, where fans could submit their own interpretations of “ReLoad” tracks. Because what’s more exciting than listening to a bunch of amateur covers of Metallica songs? 🎸 I mean, I’m sure the winners of the competition were just thrilled to receive a Metallica-autographed “ReLoad” remastered limited-edition deluxe box set. I bet they’ll treasure it forever… or until they sell it on eBay. 📈
Looking Back on the “Load” and “ReLoad” Era: A Time of Great Creativity and Questionable Fashion Choices
The “Load” and “ReLoad” albums were released in 1996 and 1997, respectively, and marked a new direction for Metallica. The band was exploring new sounds and styles, and, um, interesting fashion choices. 🤣 I mean, who can forget the infamous “Load” album cover, which featured the band members dressed up like a bunch of try-hard hipsters? 🤦♂️ James Hetfield has since expressed his dislike of the album cover, saying it was a “piss-take” and that he was just along for the ride. 🤷♂️
In a 2013 interview, Lars Ulrich said that “Load” and “ReLoad” are “great records” that are “creatively on par with every other record we’ve made.” 🙄 I mean, sure, Lars, if you say so. 🤔 Hetfield, on the other hand, has been a bit more critical of the era, saying that it was a time of compromise and that he wasn’t entirely on board with the direction the band was heading. 🤔
But hey, despite the questionable fashion choices and creative missteps, the “Load” and “ReLoad” albums have still managed to hold up over the years. I mean, they’re not as bad as “St. Anger,” right? 🙅♂️ And who knows, maybe the re-release of “ReLoad” will introduce a new generation of fans to the magic of Metallica’s seventh studio album. 🎉 Or maybe not. 🤷♂️ Either way, I’m sure the band is just thrilled to be reliving the glory days of 1997. 😴
