Upcoming Horror Game I Hate This Place: More Like I Hate This Game, Am I Right

Oh, great, another survival horror game! 🙄 As if we needed more jump scares and poorly optimized gameplay. Broken Mirror Games, who? Partnering with Skybound Entertainment, huh? Must be desperate for some clout. Introducing: I Hate This Place, because apparently, the devs also hate making original titles.

Announced via a press release, because who even reads those, I Hate This Place will be a “craft-focused, isometric survival horror game” filled with “twisted monsters and warped realities.” Wow, groundbreaking stuff! 🙄 Isometric? Really? Are we going back to 1995? And a “unique comic book art style?” Translation: we’re too lazy to make it look realistic, so we’ll slap some filters on it and call it “artistic.” Inspired by the 80s? More like ripping off Stranger Things, but okay. Releasing in Q4 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. So, basically everything. How original! 🤣

Yeah, that looks…generic. Dynamic day-to-night cycle? Scavenging and crafting? Stealth? 😴😴😴😴😴😴 We’ve seen it all before, folks. But wait, there’s more! Exploration plays a “large role.” Oh, you mean I have to actually walk around the map? How innovative! Fighting monsters isn’t always viable? So, I’m supposed to hide? In a horror game? Groundbreaking stuff! 🙄 Apparently, monsters can hunt players by sound. So, I guess I can’t even breathe without getting mauled. Fun!

Inspired by Skybound’s Eisner Award-nominated comic book series. Oh, so it’s based on a comic book? That explains the lack of originality. 😂 Kyle Starks and Artyom Topilin, you’re forgiven for this mess! I Hate This Place puts players in the blood-soaked shoes of Elena, whose fight for survival begins when she and her friend unwittingly summons a malevolent force. So, it’s a generic plot, too? Combining bold colors, a retro comic book style, and a heavy dose of 80s flair, the game is a unique blend of horror, dark humor, and just the right touch of camp. More like a unique blend of clichés, bad jokes, and a whole lot of cringe. 😬

Founded in 2024, Broken Mirror Games is a co-development horror label under Bloober Team. So, they’re the sidekick studio? Makes sense. With a focus on immersive experiences, innovative gameplay, and captivating storytelling, Broken Mirror Games’ mission is to create unforgettable, spine-chilling titles that leave a lasting impact on players. Yeah, an unforgettable experience of wanting your money back! 🤣 Good luck with that, guys. You’ll need it! 🤮
