Okay, folks, buckle up because eight years (!!!) after the “explosive” (🙄) Season One finale, Prime Video and the BBC are FINALLY gracing us with a Season Two of The Night Manager.
Yes, you heard that right, eight whole years. I mean, were they waiting for everyone to forget what happened? 🤔 The first season, apparently, was nominated for more than 30 awards and won a bunch, including a “Best Actor” award for Tom Hiddleston (aka Loki, aka the guy who’s trying to convince us he’s more than just a pretty face) 🎭. He’s back as Jonathan Pine, the ex-British intelligence operative, because apparently, being a night manager is just a stepping stone to international espionage. This new season is supposedly “fresh and original.” Sure, Jan. 🙄 Set in the present day, which is groundbreaking, I know. 🤯
Now, let’s talk about the new faces, shall we? We’ve got Diego Calva (from Babylon, because that’s totally relevant) as Teddy. Teddy? Really? 🧸 Is this a spy thriller or a children’s show? Then there’s Emmy-nominated Camila Morrone (of Daisy Jones & The Six fame) as Roxana. I’m sure she’ll bring all the depth and nuance needed for a sophisticated espionage drama. 🙄 And don’t forget Indira Varma (who was in Obi-Wan Kenobi, so now she’s a spy? 🤔) as Mayra, Paul Chahidi (from Wicked Little Letters – I can’t even 😂) as Basil, and Hayley Squires (who was in Adult Material, which is definitely the vibe we’re going for here) as Sally. But wait, there’s more! The OGs are returning, including Academy Award winner Olivia Colman (because they needed some actual talent on set) as Angela Burr, Alistair Petrie (from Sex Education, because why not?) as Sandy Langbourne, Douglas Hodge (aka Joker’s butler 🃏) as Rex Mayhew, Michael Nardone (who?) as Frisky (seriously, who names these people?!), and Noah Jupe (the kid from A Quiet Place) as Daniel Roper. Talk about a mixed bag of actors! 💼
This masterpiece is brought to you by The Ink Factory (apparently pigeon tunnels are their thing 🐦), Character 7 (what does that even MEAN?), Demarest Films (whoever they are), 127 Wall (sounds shady 🧐), and Nostromo Pictures (from Spain, olé! 💃). The Night Manager Season Two is “created” and “executive produced” by David Farr, based on the characters created by John le Carré. Directed by BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies (who directed I Hate Suzie, which is how I feel about this already), the upcoming season is going “beyond the source material.” Translation: they’re making stuff up now. ✍️
Stephen Garrett from Character 7 is the “Lead Executive Producer” because titles matter, right? More “Executive Producers” include Stephen and Simon Cornwell, Michele Wolkoff, and Tessa Inkelaar from The Ink Factory; Joe Tsai and Arthur Wang from 127 Wall; Adrián Guerra from Nostromo Pictures; Georgi Banks-Davies, Hugh Laurie (wait, WHAT?! 🤯), and Tom Hiddleston (because he’s clearly a genius behind the camera); William D. Johnson from Demarest Films, Nick Cornwell for John le Carré, Susanne Bier, Chris Rice for FIFTH SEASON, and Gaynor Holmes from the BBC. That’s a lot of cooks in the kitchen! 👨🍳👩🍳
The new season of The Night Manager, which was filmed in the UK, Spain, Colombia, and France (talk about a travel budget! ✈️), will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK, and on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide (except the UK, apparently 🤷). So, get ready for more espionage, more Tom Hiddleston smoldering, and more plot twists than you can shake a stick at. Or don’t. I’m not your boss. 😜
