Breaking news: the coachella festival just got a whole lot more interesting, and by interesting, I mean old 🤣. David Lee Roth, the 71-year-old former frontman of Van Halen, just showed up at Teddy Swims’ coachella stage and performed a rendition of “Jump” that was, well, let’s just say it was a jump back in time 🕰️. I mean, who needs a time machine when you have David Lee Roth’s dance moves 💃? It was like watching your dad try to be cool in front of his kids, but in a good way… I think 🤷‍♀️.

So, Teddy Swims’ stage was transformed into a stylized apartment set, complete with a bedroom, living room, and even a front door 🚪. Because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to see at a music festival – a doorbell ringing and people walking through a door 🚪. It was like a real-life game of “The Price is Right” 🎉. First, Joe Jonas came out and joined Teddy for a rendition of the Jonas Brothers’ “When You Look Me In The Eyes” 👀. Then, Vanessa Carlton showed up and performed her 2001 hit “A Thousand Miles” 🚗. But the real pièce de résistance was when David Lee Roth walked through that door, dressed in a leather vest and skintight trousers, flashing his trademark grin 😎. It was like the king of rock had arrived, and by king, I mean the king of dad rock 🤴.

The crowd went wild, and by wild, I mean they were all like “oh my god, it’s David Lee Roth from the best fucking band of all time, Van Halen!” 🤯. I mean, who doesn’t love a good ol’ fashioned rockstar cameo 🤩? Teddy and David performed a playful and slightly imperfect version of “Jump” 🌟. At one point, they even missed their cue and laughed it off 😂. It was like watching two old friends having a blast on stage, except one of them was a rock legend and the other was, well, Teddy Swims 🤷‍♀️.

Coachella 2026 is running from April 10-12 and 17-19 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio 🌵. This year’s main-stage headliners are Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G 🎤. Because, you know, that’s exactly what you want to see at a music festival – a bunch of young people singing about love and heartbreak ❤️. Both weekends of Coachella are sold out, but don’t worry, you can always watch the performances on YouTube and pretend you were there 📹.

In recent years, notable surprise acts have appeared at Coachella, including Weezer and Ed Sheeran in 2025 🤯, Blink-182 in 2023 🎸, and Arcade Fire in 2022 🎶. But let’s be real, none of them are as cool as David Lee Roth 🤘. I mean, the man is 71 years old and still rocking out like it’s 1989 🎸. He’s like the ultimate rockstar 🤩.

Earlier this year, David Lee Roth announced a 30-date solo tour of North America 🎟️. Because, you know, he’s not busy enough being a rock legend and all 🙄. The tour kicks off on April 16 in Airway Heights, Washington and will visit California, Arizona, and Texas later in the month 🌄. Then, he’ll be playing in Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, and Ontario in May 🎉. And finally, he’ll be hitting New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Minnesota, and Wisconsin in June 🎊. It’s like he’s trying to visit every state in the country, except maybe Alaska and Hawaii 🏖️.

David Lee Roth’s solo shows in 2025 saw him backed by Al Estrada on guitar, Ryan Wheeler on bass, Francisco Valentino on drums, and Danny Wagner on keyboards 🎸. It was like a real-life game of “Rockstar: The Game” 🎮. And his summer 2025 U.S. tour concluded on September 14 in Napa, California 🍷. Because, you know, what’s a better way to end a tour than with a bunch of wine 🍷?

David Lee Roth played his first full solo concert in more than five years on May 3 at the 2025 edition of the M3 Rock Festival 🤘. It was like a comeback, except he never really went away 🙄. He originally left Van Halen to pursue a solo career following the success of the band’s album “1984” 📆. But then he returned for a stint in 1996 and then took over as Van Halen’s frontman again from 2007 until 2020 🕰️. Although, the band had not toured since 2015 🎟️. It’s like he was trying to keep the band alive, but it was just a bunch of old guys playing music 🤣.

Anyway, that’s the news from Coachella 🌟. David Lee Roth showed up, performed “Jump” with Teddy Swims, and proved that he’s still got it 🎸. Even if “it” is just a bunch of old rockstar moves 🤣. But hey, who doesn’t love a good ol’ fashioned rockstar cameo 🤩
