This forty-second teaser trailer reveals Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe’s performance as Hermann Göring in this thought-provoking historical drama for the first time. Prepare to be amazed… or maybe just mildly interested. Who knows? 🤔
Nuremberg boasts an extraordinary ensemble cast, including Academy Award® winner Rami Malek as Göring’s psychiatrist Douglas Kelly (because who else would play a psychiatrist these days?), Academy Award® nominee Michael Shannon, Academy Award® nominee Richard E. Grant (still nominated, never winning, bless his heart 🥺), and breakout star Leo Woodall, who speaks German in the role of translator Howard Triest. Because, you know, subtitles are too mainstream. Written and directed by James Vanderbilt, Nuremberg is a cat-and-mouse thriller set in the shadow of the crimes that have haunted global history for decades to come. Prepare for intense staring and dramatic pauses! 🙀
Based on the book “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist” by Jack El-Hai, Nuremberg is inspired by the true story of the eponymous trials held by the Allies against the defeated Nazi regime. The film centres on American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Malek), who is tasked with determining whether Nazi prisoners are fit to stand trial for their war crimes. He finds himself in a complex battle of wits with Hermann Göring (Crowe), Hitler’s right-hand man. Will the psychiatrist win? Will Göring reveal his deepest, darkest secrets? Or will everyone just get really, really bored? Stay tuned!
Rounding out the all-star cast are John Slattery, Mark O’Brien, Colin Hanks, Lydia Peckham, Wrenn Schmidt, Lotte Verbeek, and Andreas Pietschmann. Because apparently, you can’t have a historical drama without every actor in Hollywood making a cameo!
Sky’s Head of Original Film Andrew Orr comments, “Nuremberg stands as a bold and important project from acclaimed filmmaker James Vanderbilt. We’re proud to present it to UK audiences as a Sky Original: with its stellar cast and timely subject matter, this film represents the kind of ambitious storytelling we’re committed to championing at Sky.” Translation: “We threw a bunch of money at this and hope someone watches it.” 🤞
The film is produced by Walden Media, Bluestone Entertainment, and Mythology Entertainment, with WME Independent representing the global rights to the film. Because it takes a village to make a movie about Nazis… 🤷♀️
Producers include Richard Saperstein, Bradley J.Fischer, James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Walden Media’s Frank Smith, Benjamin Tappan, and Cherilyn Hawrysh, along with István Major of Filmsquad and George Freeman. Executive producers include Jack El-Hai, Brooke Saperstein, Annie Saperstein, Beau Turpin, W. Porter Payne, Jr., Paul Neinstein, and Széchenyi Funds Géza Deme and Tamás Hajnal. So many producers! One might wonder if there’s actually a movie being made or just a really elaborate business deal. 🤔
After its theatrical release in November, Nuremberg will premiere on Sky Cinema in January 2026. Mark your calendars, folks! Or, you know, just wait for it to show up on a streaming service you already pay for. 🤫
