Oh boy, are you guys ready for some exciting news? 🤩 I mean, who doesn’t love a good Robocop story, right? 🤖💣 It’s not like we’ve seen this character done to death or anything… 😂 Back in 2024, we heard that a new Robocop TV show was in the works, because what the world really needed was another reboot. 🙄 And now, after a whole two years of development, Amazon MGM Studios has finally greenlit the series. 🎉 I mean, it’s not like they had anything better to do with their time and money… 🤑
So, let’s get to the good stuff. The new show is being written, executive produced, and showrun by Peter Ocko, who has worked on a bunch of other shows that you might have heard of, like Dead Like Me, Pushing Daisies, The Office, and Black Sails. And because one producer isn’t enough, James Wan is also executive producing, because who doesn’t love a good horror movie director trying to make a sci-fi show? 🎃👻 The show is being made in collaboration with Blumhouse Atomic Monster, because they’re just so good at making movies and TV shows that are actually good… 🙄

Wow, what a unique and original idea… 🙄 It’s not like we’ve seen that exact same plot in every other sci-fi movie and TV show ever made… 🙃

James Wan said some stuff about how he’s a huge fan of Robocop and how he’s excited to bring this world to television. Yeah, sure, James, we believe you… 🙄 He also said that the original 1987 movie was “decades ahead of its time” and that its questions about technology, identity, and corporate power are still relevant today. Yeah, no kidding… 🙃 It’s not like that movie was just a cheesy, over-the-top action flick or anything… 🤣
Peter Friedlander, the Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, also said some stuff about how Robocop is a franchise that has meant something to audiences for nearly four decades. Yeah, sure, Peter, it’s not like the franchise has been milked dry or anything… 🤑 He also said that the new show will “honor the soul of what made the original so enduring” while also being “fresh and urgent” for today’s audience. Yeah, good luck with that… 🙄
I mean, I love the original Robocop movie, and I even kind of liked the sequel. But let’s be real, the third movie and all the other TV shows have been pretty meh… 🤷♂️ So, I’m not really sure what to expect from this new series.
