Apple TV, in its infinite wisdom (or maybe just infinite budget), has decided to unleash another season of its critically (debatable) acclaimed Monsterverse series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, because the first one was such a roaring success… with someone, somewhere. Featuring the dynamic duo of Kurt Russell (yes, Snake Plissken himself, probably wondering what he’s doing here) and Wyatt Russell (following in daddy’s footsteps, or maybe just needing a paycheck), along with a stellar cast of other actors Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett and Anders Holm. Prepare yourselves for 10 more episodes of monster mayhem, premiering globally on Friday, February 27, 2026, because who doesn’t want to start their weekend with giant monsters? One glorious episode every Friday until May 1, 2026, because apparently, they couldn’t binge-release this masterpiece. 🙄

Season one of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (which you probably forgot existed) followed two siblings on a quest to unravel their family’s connection to the super-secret Monarch organization. Because every family has secrets, right? Clues led them into a world of monsters, because that’s where all the cool clues are hidden, and down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by both Kurt and Wyatt Russell, because one Russell wasn’t enough). The series spanned the 1950s and half a century later, where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. Spoilers: it’s probably something monster-related. 🤫

Season two promises even more earth-shattering revelations (literally, with all those titans stomping around). The fate of Monarch — and the world — hangs in the balance, because when doesn’t it? The dramatic saga reunites our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, because who wouldn’t want to vacation there? And introduces a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. Because we definitely needed another Titan. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend, and foe — all with the looming threat of a titan event. Because subtlety is overrated. 💥

This cinematic triumph (again, debatable) hails from Legendary Television and is executive produced by a whole bunch of people with fancy titles, including Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell from Safehouse Pictures, alongside Chris Black, Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Andrew Colville, and Lawrence Trilling. Lawrence Trilling even directs four episodes, because apparently, he likes monsters. Andrew Colville writes two episodes and serves as executive producer because multitasking is key. Chris Black is the showrunner on season two, so blame him if you don’t like it. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita executive produce on behalf of Toho Co., Ltd., the owner of the Godzilla character. Because Godzilla needs representation. Apple TV has a multi-series deal with Legendary Entertainment, because why stop at one mediocre monster show? Multiple spinoff series are in the works, because who needs original ideas? 🤷‍♀️

Relive the magic (or just catch up) by streaming the first season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on Apple TV. If you dare. 😈

Legendary’s Monsterverse is a sprawling, cross-platform universe focused on humanity’s desperate battle for survival in a world overrun by monsters. Because who needs peace and quiet? It all began with the Godzilla film in 2014 and continued through 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong, and most recently the record-breaking Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The highest-grossing installment and the highest-grossing Godzilla film of all time, because apparently, people love giant lizards beating each other up. And get ready for Godzilla x Kong: Supernova in 2027, because the monster madness never ends. The Monsterverse has raked in over $2.5B at the global box office, because who needs that money when you can have giant monsters? And spawned the event series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for Apple TV. Because why not? Including an interconnected world of video games, graphic novels, toys, and live experiences, the Monsterverse is epic entertainment on the grandest scale. Or at least, that’s what they want you to think. 😜
